Drums For Development is hosting an event to introduce InTerraTree to our local community!
We will serve African snacks while sharing the story of Drums For Development & InTerraTree, then teach a *Mindful Drumming workshop!

There will also be African handcrafts for sale, made by our friends in Togo, West Africa! Proceeds go towards the InTerraTree Crowdfunding Campaign (www.valhallamovement.com/InTerraTree)

*Mindful Drumming is a practice designed by Nick Joyce, and taught to thousands throughout the US, to develop self-awareness, confidence, communication, and collaboration in a group. You will come into the present moment, learn basic djembe technique, play participatory drumming games, and end with an opportunity to share your experience, bringing the language of rhythm into the world of words.

This event will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Worcester. From the event description:
"Does anybody else start to get the winter blues a bit after the holidays? The uplifting holidays have passed and you're still far off from the warmth of spring. We will be holding a Holistic Faire in January to bring some cheer and togetherness to this time of year. "

We will be hosting a mindful drumming circle at this event from 11:15AM-12PM. We will also have a booth throughout the day for sharing our story and selling our drums, artwork, and T-Shirts.

Rootwire Music & Arts Festival
August 15-18th in Logan, OH
Rootwire is an annual multi-day event hosted in southeastern Ohio that envelops those in attendance in a cascading flow of artistic expression from live music to painting, installation to performance art, presentations, workshops, ceremony and more. Since its inception in 2010, Rootwire has grown to be one of the premier live music and arts events in the Midwest – and is the on-going creative project of the nationally-touring electronic/rock syndicate Papadosio.

Beginning with a guided meditation to connect with the drum, Mindfulness Based Drumming is a practice to develop self-awareness, confidence, communication, and collaboration. Participants will be taught basic djembe technique and engage in drumming “games” geared at building confidence and creating connections within the circle. From “Pass the Solo” to “Call and Response” this practice will bring us to a place of great unity, allowing us to gradually intensify our individual beats while maintaing collective harmony. At the end of the circle, participants will have an opportunity to share their experiences, bringing the language of rhythm into the world of words.

The Wellness Village at Camp Coldbrook is an essential element of this years festival. In order to successfully embody the vision of Camp Coldbrook, Nick Joyce of Evocunity has taken the lead to provide and create the atmospheric environment to promote “inner exploration”.

Want to wake up to a little morning vinyasa yoga session to kick off a long day of hard festie partying? Or do you “knead” to get a knot out of your back and want a massage? Maybe you feel inspired and want to let out some creative energy and take either an art or dance workshop? All of these things and more are possible this year! Among the various peaceful elements that make this area essential for all to visit, are the workshops and services offered. A few examples include everything from botany, bellydance, Reiki, Tai Chi, drumming, drawing, yoga, massage, tea ceremonies, face and body painting and meditation.

Evocunity stands for “Exploring Views Of Consciousness, Creativity, Community, and Culture to awaken a sense of Unity.” They ensure that everyone’s Coldbrook experience has the potential to be enjoyed socially to the fullest stimulation of one’s mind, body and spirit.

Kirtan Jam is a community service that’s offered purely for the upliftment of all and is free of charges and conditions. We accept all offerings of appreciation and care for what’s being facilitated. These donations support the expenses of the facilitators, hosts, and guiding masters, transport the practice to the next community to spread love, joy, wisdom and peace, and invite grace into the lives of those contributing.

We will also host a two-hour introductory drumming workshop.

In this circle participants will be taught basic djembe technique and engage in mindful drumming, a practice for inviting present awareness. After a period of self-discovery and finding harmony within the group, participants will be invited to verbally communicate their experiences, deepening their connections with other members of the circle.
This event is free and open to everyone. Donations for the non-profit are gratefully accepted as well as any other non-monetary gifts of appreciation. This is the gift economy :)

The MOTHER DRUM will help keep the one or the heartbeat throughout our journey. Some of you will have the chance to play the Mother Drum if you so choose.
This ceremony teaches us the power of deep listening and helps take us deeper into community to find our commonUNITY... as we heal ourselves and our Mother Earth ...for All Our Relations-A-Ho!

You are invited to my home at Sirius Community, a beautiful sustainable ecovillage, for a potluck dinner, intentional* drum circle, and holiday drum & art sale. This event is presented by Drums For Development, a non-profit community development organization working in the USA and in Africa to cultivate a thriving and sustainable global culture (http://www.facebook.com/drumsfordevelopment).

Potluck dinner will be at 6:00PM (bring something to eat!) followed by the drum circle starting at 7:00PM. The circle will start off with a quick workshop on basic djembe technique and rhythm for beginners. All are welcome to join and drums will be available for use.

This will also be an excellent opportunity to pick up one of our beautiful djembes or batiks as a holiday gift and spread the holiday cheer to the artists of Centre des Hommes. (Drums For Development donates all money from sales to the artists in Togo.)

You are invited to an evening of learning, sharing, and connecting at the Sirius octagon. Nick Joyce, founder of Drums For Development, will be hosting a live multimedia presentation on life and culture in West Africa as well as sharing about his work in sustainable community development. The presentation will be followed by a drumming workshop on basic djembe technique and rhythm and the evening will end with an intentional freestyle drum circle for community building and global healing. Djembe drums and batik artwork handmade in Togo by our friends at Centre des Hommes will be available for sale.

This was our hometown circle and ran from December 2011 - May 2012. This circle was held outside on the town common during the warmer months, and inside the Parish Center for the Arts during the Winter (also located on Lincoln Street). This circle ended when founder Nick Joyce moved to Sirius Community in Shutesbury, MA.
